MEMORIAL GIFT

September 2009

It's hard to believe Nathan has been gone for ten years this month.  Because of this I have spent considerable time this year trying to think of a suitable way to honour him.  I considered many different creative memorial services and events, but nothing I came up with really "felt" right.  I thought deeply about what kind of person Nathan was, and I wanted our memorial efforts to reflect that.

Nathan was a very generous, loving and kind person.  I came to the conclusion that I think he would rather be remembered in a way that helps others rather than a fancy expensive service.

So instead we will have our same small warm get together on his birthday like we have always done, and our family will make a monitary donation to the Seva Canada Society which will restore the eyesight of twenty people in Nathan's honour.

We urge you to please familiarize yourself with Seva's site and mission, and ask that you might also consider making a tax deductable donation to Seva Canada Society in his honour.

Every 5 seconds a person in the world goes blind.  a child goes blind every minute.  There are now 314 million people with serious vision impairment.  45 million people are blind.  It doesn't have to be this way.  80% of blindness is preventable or treatable, often with a 15-minute cataract surgery costing $50 or less.  You can give the gift of sight to a blind person and change lives forever.
